Noggins and Natters

You might wonder why we call our meetings Noggins & Natters; well here’s my understanding of the term. There are three definitions of the word Noggin:

  1. It’s a small cup or mug
  2. It’s a measurement of spirit (equivalent to a quarter of a pint)
  3. It’s a human head
And a natter?
  1. To have a chat, talk, chinwag, blether or gossip

So, “Noggins and Natters” must mean ‘a bunch of human heads, drinking small measures of liquid (spirit or otherwise) whilst having a good chinwag or gossip’ – sounds like what we do twice most months!  Maybe we should consider re-naming them Noggins, Natters and Nosh, which is also very much part of the fellowship we enjoy as a centre; most events feature food in one way or another.

We meet on the Second Sunday of the month at around 12:00 noon and again on the Fourth Thursday of the month at around 7-7:30pm unless otherwise stated.  It is always a good idea to check for finer details in Miscellany Centre Reports or ring a committee member.

Below is our Programme for 2008; in addition to the events stated there are also usually Away-days, Weekend Jolly-ups and Short Breaks either in UK or across the channel.  If you subscribe to New Forest Centre (which helps pay for the running-costs of the centre) you will also receive email updates for all extra events and even instant days out if the weather is good.
Happy Morganeering!
